Free Healthy Weight Loss Tips

I am constantly seeing free healthy weight loss tips on the web.  The problem is that if you follow up on all the tips, you will end up being as big as a house. Just think about all the foods that are good for you and try to eat them everyday: nuts, avocados, grapes, chocolate, oats, fiber, fish….

So….

The Number 1 Free Healthy Weight Loss Tip – Do Not Eat All the Healthy Foods.

If you eat all the healthy foods you will gain weight.  If you read a good history book about scurvy for instance you will realize that just that one lemon slice in your water would have kept you healthy.  If you insist on following every word of advice about healthy foods, think: one grape, one bite of avocado, one sardine, one nut and one piece of dark chocolate the size of a heresy’s kiss.

Give The Gift of Health
Do you want to give a great gift that really shows you care? Consider one of the following: pedometer, book on health living, jump rope, water bottle, heart rate monitor, stability ball, exercise mat, dumbbells, healthy cook book, exercise DVD, gift card to a sporting goods store, or even a gym membership. For a no-cost gift, make a coupon committing to exercise with the recipient one time per week.

For Children Consider gifts that encourage exercise.  If the child has a place to go outside, consider outside toys.  Bikes, jump rope, balls, push toys, gym sets, and hats for imaginative play outside.

Some of my best Christmas gifts when I was a pre teen were not things that I was excited about at first, but appreciated as the years went by.  (jump rope, tennis racket, weights, and other exercise equipment.) Of course I was also excited about sports equipment, a big bike and other such things.

Chewing Gum Can Help Prevent Cavaties

Chewing sugarless gum for 20 minutes following meals can help prevent tooth decay! Chewing gum increases the flow of saliva, which can neutralize and wash away the acids that lead to tooth decay. Look for the ADA (American Dental Association) Seal on the gum and keep a pack in your lunch box or pocket. When you can't brush after a meal, reach for a stick of gum; it could improve your breath and your smile! Water after meals is also a good idea when you can not brush.

Celebrate Citrus Season

Citrus fruits are nutritious ,delicious relatively low in calories.  this group of fruit is known for their high vitamin C content, these fruits are also good sources of other nutrients such as potassium, folate, fiber and a variety of phytochemicals (health-protecting compounds found in plants).  Choose from favorites including oranges, grapefruits lemons, limes and tangerines.  Select citrus fruit that is firm, feels heavy for its size, has vibrant color and a smooth peel.  They are great eaten alone or added to a salad.
